Allan Chapman

Allan joined Richard Ellis in 1974 where he qualified as a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

After working in London, Chicago and Vancouver, Allan moved to San Francisco where he set up Somerston’s North American operations.

Allan has extensive property development experience having led major projects in the land development, retail, office, hotel, industrial and telecom sectors.  In 2004, Allan led the team responsible for the contribution of the Somerston Group’s data centre assets into Digital Realty Trust (NYSE: DLR) as part of its IPO.

Alex Ohlsson

Alex is the managing partner of the Jersey office of the leading offshore law firm, Carey Olsen.  He specialises in corporate and finance law.  He is recognised as a key individual in his practice area by Chambers legal directory and is ranked in the top tier of corporate lawyers in the Jersey Legal 500 directory.

Alex has substantial experience in corporate and property finance, mergers & acquisitions and capital market transactions.

Alex has been a Somerston Board member for over 20 years.

Jon Rees

Jon joined Andersons in 1974 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant before transferring to their Vancouver Office in 1975.  Jon left Andersons in 1977 to go into industry and has since accumulated over 40 years experience in senior positions within the real estate industry.  Jon’s particular areas of expertise include finance raising through public equity offerings, syndications and bank financing, as well as managing corporate re-organisations and restructuring.  Jon has been a NED on Somerston’s Board since 2004.

Susan Dell’Osso

Susan has been part of the Cambay Group US Real Estate team for more than 25 years.

Susan specialises in land planning, development and entitlement.  In her early years with the Group, Susan worked on the entitlement and sale of one of the largest and most successful master planned communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, the 2,300 acre Windermere community.

Susan is currently Board Director for River Islands, a mixed use master planned community  in California with 4,800 acres, projected 11,000 homes, a business park, and nine schools.

Tracy Clarke

Tracy has spent most of her career in Asset and Wealth Management, having previously worked 10+ years for a European Bank in both Jersey and Zurich.  Tracy joined Somerston Group in 2016 and was appointed as Managing Director of Carlton Management, the licensed Trust Company Business through which the family office is administered, and as Chief Operating Officer to the wider Group.  Tracy is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds the CISI Investment Advice Diploma.

Nick Wakefield

Nick is the in-house CIO for Somerston Treasury, and Managing Director of Somerston Asset Management Limited.  He is also actively involved with the management of the Group’s ventures portfolio.

Nick has over 20 years investment experience and previously managed the award winning top ranked Ashburton Asset Allocation Fund and Ashburton Global Equity Fund.

Nick has been a CFA and CMT chart holder for over 10 years.

Bill Scott

Prior to joining The Cambay Group at its founding in 1990, Bill served as Controller for a number of real estate companies, including those engaged in homebuilding, golf course development, commercial development and commercial property investments.

Bill has full responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting and cash flow for all of The Cambay Group’s operations.  He is actively involved in the acquisition, project management and disposition activities of the Group.

Bill holds a degree in Accounting from the University of San Francisco.

 

Aaron Knapik

Aaron is the Managing Director for Somerston’s Venture Capital and Private Equity portfolio, as well as for Somerston Treasury. He also serves as Chief Financial Officer for Trans Pacific Networks, an undersea telecom company.

With over 25 years of experience in investment and asset management, Aaron is based in the Cayman Islands. His previous roles include positions at Dart Management, the Royal Bank of Canada, and the gold mining company Placer Dome.

Aaron holds an MBA in Wealth Management and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).

Tom Powell

Tom focuses on building strategic partnerships, expanding access to the firm’s investment offerings, origination and supporting long-term commercial growth. He has over 20 years’ experience in listed investments, structured products and private markets, with senior investment roles at Société Générale, Jefferies Bache and Altis Partners.

Before joining Somerston, Tom founded Alnitak Advisors, raising over $250m across macro, private debt and derivative strategies, and working with family offices, trustees and pension funds. As a long standing elected member of the Jersey Funds Association he chairs the Sustainable Finance subcommittee and sits on the Jersey Sustainable Finance steering group.

He holds a Master’s in International Commerce from Université Blaise Pascal, is a CISI-qualified investment professional, and holds the NFA Series 32. He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
